Moving Checklist
Buying or Selling,
Have you advised everybody?
Insurance: - If you are
buying you must arrange insurance and have a cover notice provided
to your financier before settlement of the property.
- If you are
selling, leave the insurance in place until after settlement
has actually occurred and you have been advised that the
settlement has gone through.
Essential Services: - As
your Conveyancer we will advise the Local Government (Council
or Shire) and the Water Corporation of the
change of ownership and obtain a water meter reading close to settlement.
- Telephone, Power and Gas services are “occupier” charges and you
should advise these services of the day on which you expect to move into (or
out of) the property – usually the day following settlement.
- Telstra are normally able to give you your new telephone number
prior to settlement and Western Power and Alinta Gas will read
the meter
and connect you the morning
you move house.
Other Services you may need to advise of
your change of address and telephone number:
- Post Office for re-direction of mail
- Deliveries – newspapers, milk and any services such
as gardening or garden bags
- Employer
- Drivers License
- Boat or other Licenses (including vehicles
and occupational Licenses)
- Medicare
- Library
- Dog Registration & License
- Club and Association memberships
(business, sporting, social, RAC)
- School
- Friends & Relatives
- Church
- Doctors & Dentist
- Subscriptions
- Blood Bank
- St Johns Ambulance
- Vet
- Other family activities (e.g.. Music teacher)
- Bank - Accounts,
Credit Cards, Mortgage
- Store Accounts or Credit Cards
- Insurance (Life, car, household,
boat)
- Frequent Flyer Programs
- Health Fund
- Superannuation Fund
- Electoral Office
- Taxation Office
- Centrelink
- Pensions
- Office of Senior Interests
